Tο Φινλανδικό Iνστιτούτο Aθηνών ιδρύθηκε το 1984 και είναι το δεύτερο, κατά σειρά παλαιότητας, Φινλανδικό Iνστιτούτο στο εξωτερικό. Πρόκειται για αρχαιολογική σχολή με κύριο σκοπό την μελέτη της ελληνικής αρχαιολογίας, της ιστορίας, της γλώσσας και του ελληνικού πολιτισμού γενικότερα από την αρχαιότητα ως τις μέρες μας.
