Event: Protection of the Environment in Armed Conflicts

The Toxic Crimes Project (Faculty of Law, University of Helsinki), the Athens Public International Law Center (Athens PIL) Law School, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and the Finnish Institute at Athens (FIA) organise an international workshop to discuss the legal, historical and practical aspects of environmental protection during armed conflicts from ancient to contemporary contexts. The keynote speaker will be Ambassador Marja Lehto (former UN International Law Commission Special Rapporteur, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Finland).

The workshop will take place exclusively in-person at the premises of the Finnish Institute at Athens, 16 Zitrou street, Athens on Thursday 4 May 2023 from 18.00 – 20.30 and a reception will follow in the outdoor space of the Institute.
