New General Secretary for the Foundation

We are happy to announce that Tiina Purola (Licentiate of Philosophy) has been chosen as the new General Secretary of the Foundation of the Finnish Institute at Athens. Purola will start in her new position on 1 March 2021.

Tiina Purola’s academic background is in the Ancient Studies. She is an alumna of Helsinki University, and participated in professor Jaakko Frösén’s academic research group at the Finnish Institute at Athens from 1988 to 1992. Purola has conducted research in papyrological projects and taught Greek language and literature. She was the acting General Secretary of the Foundation of the Finnish Institute at Athens in 2018 and 2019.  She will take up the position from her predecessor Manna Satama (PhD).
