Event: ’The Museum of Aegean Boatbuilding’ – Kostas Damianidis

The Finnish Institute at Athens is happy to kick off its Autumn programme by hosting the opening lecture of a new online seminar series Traditional Boats and Maritime Traditions, organised by Dr Katerina Velentza (University of Helsinki). The first seminar and the launch of the series will take place in a hybrid form at the Finnish Institute at Athens (Zitrou 16) and online on Zoom (follow the link) at 7PM on Wednesday 7 September 2022.

The presenter of the talk will be Kostas Damianidis, who will be talking on ’The Museum of Aegean Boatbuilding and Maritime Crafts and the Digital Platform Boats and Boatbuilding in the Modern Cultural Heritage (woodenboats.gr)’

At the same time, the opening talk of the series will celebrate the publication of a recent collected volume Seafaring and Mobility in the Late Antique Mediterranean (Bloomsbury Academic, August 2022), co-edited by Antti Lampinen (Finnish Institute at Athens) and Emilia Mataix Ferrándiz (University of the Basque Country).
