The Finnish Institute at Athens, in collaboration with the Danish Institute at Athens and the Netherlands Institute at Athens, will host a three-day conference called ”The Constant Participant: Constructing and Affirming Identity through Material Culture in Ancient Greek Sanctuaries and Modern Museums”, from May 8th to May 10th. This conference will focus on the journey of specific groups of objects from their creation to use in ancient Greek sanctuaries and ritual places, and finally as part of museum displays. The significance of sanctuaries and museums as valued, carefully guarded spaces that have a pivotal role in creating and presenting identity will be highlighted.
